Merely doing both fixes the applet, doesn't it?
No. Changing the permissions does not fix the applets. Simply re-saving the
applets does not fix them.
I have to "Save As..." to a new file from the Script Editor. Nothing else
works. With hundreds of applets scattered all over my Mac, fixing them all
this way is a monumental project...
...which I haven't had to do.
I remembered that I had a backup from a few weeks ago and restored most them
from my backup. The copies in the backup will all run. Notably, the copies
in the backup have permissions set for me as the owner, while the "local"
versions all had their owner set to "System."
It looks like the Security Update selectively changed the owner of all of my
applets to "System." It also changed something else that made the applets
non-functional.
In addition, I have found that several data files have been linked to the
default apps instead of the apps that I've set them for in the Get Info
Pane.
Yet the Disk Utility reports that the drive is in perfect working order. It
can't find a permissions problem. DiskWarrior and Norton report A-OK.
...
I just discovered yet another oddity since I ran the Security Update. The
battery menu item is mis-reporting my TiBook's battery levels. It hasn't
done that since Jaguar. The battery lights up all-green, but the menu shows
67% and declining rapidly since I unplugged (declining at about 1% per
minute).
Wow! I've really been hosed by this update!!
