No, actually. I used 'item' so that I could test with files or folders. If I use 'folder' the script opens my folder with or without a trailing colon in the path; if I use file, the script opens my file without or with the trailing colon.

But C. Nebel says this is all perfectly normal, so I'm going to stop worrying about trailing colons (unless I suffer from a prolapse, obviously).
