So, "tell database x to return count of records" will return the number

Thank you Simon, that's good to know, but as I said it doesn't seem to
matter, I get the same result result either way. Here's the event log when
it works:
count every record of database "Textregister.fp5"
--> 408
get ID of record 1 of database "Textregister.fp5" whose cellValue of
cell "Svkvdg" = "Macintosh HD:Users:richardr:Desktop:hej och
he:Wordimport.doc"
--> 3.9425E+4
But if I have conducted a search (through the UI) so the record(s) I am
trying to get does not show the where-clause won't find it and I get an
error:
--> FileMaker Pro got an error: Objektet saknas.
(Objekt saknas = object is missing, in Swedish)
It seems to be it does not address all records, but as far as I understand,
it should since it really does seem to target the database, looking at the
event log from the successful run.

I'm not too sure what you're trying to achieve here but can I suggest

you take a look at the value of "myNewRecord" in light of the above?
The script puts some file info into the record if it exists, otherwise it
creates a new record to put the same info and the file path into
