For those who don't remember the likes of OS 6, 'ttxt' was the creator code for TeachText. There was also a file type 'ttro' which was for read-only files mostly provided by Apple.

TeachText was superceded by SimpleText without change of the code.

And once again by TextEdit and we're lucky that the creator code was continued for at least one more iteration.
