More like an unimplemented feature, but for practical purposes, yes.
Aside from setting creator and file types, are there any other
places where this gotcha is likely to strike?
URLs, as in calls to SOAP; quite possibly in 'open location' as well -
I haven't checked yet. 'path to' when using those 4-character codes
for obscure locations (or if, like JD, you don't like typing out the
standard special folders). More, I'm sure.
In fact, URLs work correctly (at least in 'open location'), 'path to'
does not. The problem will strike when attempting to pass Unicode text
to a parameter that isn't (quite) text: type codes are what's showing
up here, numbers would also apply.
