photoshop crop white edges

  • Subject: photoshop crop white edges

I have several hundred images (20-50MB) that have huge amounts of white around
the object (typical a packshot where somebody removed the background
without croping the image).

I need to crop away the excessive white.

I was thinking along the lines of examining one row/column of pixels at
a time and check if every pixel within is 255/255/255.
(execution speed is not important),

Tools: Either Photoshop 7/CS on OS X or Photoshop 5.5/Photoscripter on OS9.
(Or other software that will handle RGB EPS with JPG encoding.)

Any suggestions on this?

Thanks,
Hevard
