There are three ways to do it, that I know, in OS X. You can get the 24U
Appearance OSAX (from http://www.osaxen.com), which is inexpensive (maybe
$20 now?) shareware for a single full license, free to bundle with free
scripts, and can be licensed for shareware scripts. Or Extra Suites, a $10
scripting app which works similarly. Or use Smile, which is free, but
perhaps a little more complicated and would have to be bundled for
distributing.

AS Studio is never painless. There's quite a learning curve. But yes, it can
be done there.
