The only 1.8.3 download I can find is the english version. The installer
complain about my swedish OS. Could someone please send me the required
files as Apple have failed to supply an installer?
One other thing. Beacuse I'm on a swedish OS files and folders might contain
swedish characters such as aao. At one point in my script I would like to
convert a folder alias to a string: set myStr to (theFolder as text)
However, I get an error telling me that theFolder can't be converted into a
string when theFolder point to a folder containing swedish characters. I
have tried using unicode an international text as well but with the same
result.
Thanks in advance
/Martin

OK. I'm sorry to have asked you too much, as the explanation seems to be

I really didn't remember that "info for" ever encountered problems...

But anyway, you should consider to upgrade to AS 1.8.3 (this is a widely

shared advice), as lots of bugs have been corrected.
That's an understatement. AppleScript 1.7 was the worst excrescence ever
distributed. AS 1.8.3 is excellent. Since it came out after OS 9.2.2 (the
last OS for OS 9) you have to install it yourself. You should do so
immediately. I recall that for a long time you couldn't get 1.8.3 for non-US
OS versions. I would hope that it did eventually come out. If not, you
should go back to AS 1.6 if you have to. 1.6 is pretty good.
