We at PreFab Software take pride in our reputation for rapid and informative
support. According to the messages, you sent your initial inquiry at 10:50
AM this morning. Our reply went out at 12:01 PM this afternoon, just over an
hour later. Even allowing for the possibility that Entourage doesn't adjust
time zones, that's pretty quick. If you ask around, I think you'll find
that people are quite happy with the level of support we provide.
I have now tested the download on a computer that has never seen UI Browser
before, and it worked correctly. It showed the red "trial version" legend at
the top of the main window, and it ran without feature restrictions. Our
intent is that you will have 30 days after your first run of UI Browser to
try it out, and it is working as intended.
Apparently, you (or someone with access to your computer) had previously
installed another copy of UI Browser, more than 30 days ago. This is the
only way you could have received an "expired" alert.
UI Browser does present an alert at launch under Mac OS X 10.3.2, warning
you that you might require a newer version of UI Browser. This is not an
expiration notice, as the wording makes clear. We present this warning
because UI Browser was compiled under 10.3.0, and the underlying Apple
technology we rely on is evolving. Shortly after every new release of Mac OS
X, we post a note on our Web site indicating whether you can ignore this
warning. You can suppress it (until you install yet another new OS version)
by clicking the "don't tell me again" button in the alert.
As to Apple's UI Element Inspector, it is an excellent utility, and free.
There are a number of things it doesn't do, however, that UI Browser does
do. There is a page on our Web site that lists many of the differences.
