Problem with Script Editor Scripts

Hi,
I'm trying to use Script Editor Scripts, but found a couple of problems:
1) the script "Images of Chosen Folder.scpt" ends with an error message
NSCannotCreateScriptCommandError
2) other scripts that are targeting Script Editor if opened and saved in a
different location (i.e. /HOME/Library/Scripts/) when opened from the script
menu are failing at "tell front document" statement.
Apparently the target application is missing, I just started the script as
follows:
tell application "Script Editor"
display dialog name
and the result was "System Events".
What am I missing?
