network installer

Hi Guys,

A client has asked if we can create an installer to install files from a CD on a server on to other macs on the network, the files are unimportant, just some Director movies and power-point files, but they do however require (or wish) that this installation will be seamless running from OS 8.6 through 9 and on to OS X.

Questions -

Can such an installer be created

Would separate installers have to be created for each different version of the Mac OS

Would we instead have to use 3rd party tools to create the installer

Can it be written in applescript?

If this question would be better of in a different list, please feel free to move it and notify me that you have done
An help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
