Hi,
Six or seven years ago I created some very minor scripts to help with
backing up files and other housekeeping stuff but to be honest I really
never got very far in mastering AppleScript, just dabbled. I am
working with a very nifty Java application called Servoy but it would
be good if I could have an option/dialog box to stop another
(background) process run by Sybase ASA whenever I quit Servoy (which I
now do manually by 'stopping' it with the activity monitor although it
can be done by a command line in terminal). I was thinking that maybe
I could get Applescript to do this. However in looking at AppleScript
for the first time in OS X it seems to have changed a lot since I last
looked in OS 9 and I can't even get to first base. Would someone be so
kind as to tell me first of all whether this is something that would be
good/practical to do with AppleScript? Secondly would it be possible
to help me get started on this? I don't want to create anything real
fancy, the simpler the better, and any advice/suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
