It has now been 10 hours since I sent the post and it still hasn't shown up.

So what good is the header?

This is downright intolerable, I might have to join another list.

Maybe Earthlink is identifying the mail as spam because the previous mail

under this subject line went through. But that doesn't make sense because 8

messages have already been posted under that subject line.
It's more likely to be a connection problem.
There's only one MX record for all of Apple's mailing lists:
lists.apple.com. 86400 IN MX 10 lists.apple.com
If your ISP can't make the connection immediately it will dump the message
in the SMTP queues and attempt to resend at their own specified intervals.
Our server will do this every 30 minutes for 3 hours and then every 2 hours
for 2 days before giving up.
If Earthlink wait 4 hours before resending you'll have to put up with the
delay.
This is nothing new. When I had a .mac address I found myself regularly
booted off of mailing lists (including this list) because of problems with
Apple's mail servers - they don't work very well.
