Greetings all,

I would be very grateful to anyone prepared to have a look at my beta version of MathWallah.

MathWallah is a versatile calculator, and useful to anyone working with numbers, even if it's just occasional additions or doing a few conversions. It's easy to use, has powerful features, and an interface designed from the ground up.

MathWallah is written entirely in AppleScript, using AppleScript Studio. Almost all math commands courtesy of Deivy Petrescu. MathWallah is available for download from:

http://www.approtec.org/mathwallah

I would be particularly interested in any comments, criticisms and bug reports. Please reply off-list.

MathWallah is shareware, but the payment mechanism for this beta version is not ready yet. It is fully featured, and this beta version has no annoying reminders. It requires Mac OS 10.3 (Panther).

INTRODUCTION

MathWallah is a versatile calculator for Mac.

It has been designed to be quick and easy to use. It is useful for both simple calculations, such as conversions, or adding a list of numbers, as well as more sophisticated calculations requiring extensive scientific features and customizable commands.

MathWallah is quicker & easier to perform calculations than other calculator applications, or spreadsheets. As well as the result, it displays the equation, any variables used, and allows you to add your own notes to any calculation.

FEATURES

--Designed to make calculations quickly from the computer keyboard.

--Interface display can be compact, or full of information about a calculation.

--Extensive conversions (137 unit conversions, basic color conversions, 67 currency conversions, and access to conversions for every currency).

--Scientific functions, including matrix, complex numbers, trig, hyperbolic trig, and statistical.

--Financial calculations.

--Both RPN and algebraic input.

--As each calculation is performed, its equation is built alongside. This allows the result to be easily checked, and the equation can be subsequently used elsewhere (spreadsheet, word-processor, program, etc.).

--Builds & displays a 'stack' of all previous calculations.

--Calculates with numbers, algebraic equations, matrices, vectors, complex numbers, variables, or results of previous calculations.

--Numbers can be formatted in Standard, Fixed, Scientific, or Engineering notation.

--Add your own notes to calculations.

--10 customizable buttons, each with a pre-assigned keyboard shortcut. Custom buttons can be assigned a MathWallah command, an algebraic equation, or run a handler in an AppleScript file. Handler parameters can be passed to the AppleScript file, and a result returned to MathWallah.

--Written entirely in AppleScript, using AppleScript Studio, and requires Mac OS 10.3 (Panther). Almost all math commands courtesy of Deivy Petrescu.

MathWallah is $15 shareware, with all contributions donated directly to the charity ApproTEC (www.approtec.org).

ApproTEC designs, develops and promotes affordable, innovative technologies in developing countries to create real jobs for some of the worlds poorest people, through local businesses started up and run by local entrepreneurs. These small businesses together generate over $35 million in new profits and wages every year (0.5% of Kenya's GDP).

Thanks,

MarkB
