Sleep Displays via Script?

  • Subject: Sleep Displays via Script?

How can I make an Apple Cinema Display sleep when I want it to, without opening the Energy saver settings and lowering the "Put the display to sleep when it's been inactive for:" setting?

I don't want the CPU or HDs to sleep, just the displays, as if the Mac has been inactive for the time specified in the Energy Saver settings.

I normally don't 'sleep' my displays unless I've been inactive for an hour -- that's my Energy Saver setting. But, if I *know* I'm going to be away from the computer for hours, why not sleep the displays right away, before I leave? There no built-in way to 'sleep' the displays at will.

Can this be scripted? Is there some system flag or some such which can be manipulated via a script?
