Hi,

I'm running OS 9.1 on a Mac 8500 (w/G3 card).

The "open" button on the CD tray is getting real "iffy".

Does someone have in their archives a script I could use to open the empty
tray if the button ever goes South altogether?

I don't remember of a pure AppleScript way to act on the tray. So, just a 2 cents here...

Starting with (some version of?) MacOS 9, the install CD came with a small app (named "Ejection" in French) that allowed to open/close the CD tray.
Not sure whether it would work with your 8500, but it could be worth to try.
Should it work, it would then just be a matter of running that app (eventually from a script) or using its companion settings bar module.

HTH,
Axel
