How do I make a script find out its own path?

If we ever come up with a FAQ, this will be one of the first items on it.

The best way to make a script find its own path would be to save it as an application. As you discovered "path to me" returns the path to the calling application.

I believe that some of the third-party script editors can let a script return its own path instead of the calling application's path. (I wonder, though, what they do with a script that has not been saved yet.)
