At 09:42p -0600 03/02/2004, Chap Harrison didst inscribe upon an
electronic papyrus:
In my case, I'm writing an installer script that wants to untar an
archive stored inside the bundle. I.e., the usual reason.
In that case, couldn't you use an app for the installer script?
At 10:33p -0800 03/02/2004, Michael Terry didst inscribe:
Locating resources for an applet has never been a problem, and life
is even sweeter now with bundles. What I've always been concerned
about is being able to locate resources for compiled scripts, which
I write a lot more often than applets.
That's why ya gotta put 'em into a standard location, such as 'asup' or 'pref'.
I did think of another way I use 'path to me' in applets though,
which is for "command" applets in folders. I'll preface the applet
names with an invisible low ascii character so they float to the top
of the column view. Separate them from the rest of the documents and
folders with a folder with a space and blank icon and voila, a menu
of context-sensitive commands for a folder.
The OS X Finder drives me nuts, sorting-wise. It uses a completely
different sort order from the Mac OS Finder, which itself used a
different sort order from the menu system.
Why can't Apple use the same sorting/collation/whatever method system
wide, and allow us to change it?
It's just plain wrong for a bullet character to sort before alpha characters.
