As a test, I modified the script to write "i" in TextEdit instead, and
I got the
same result, so it's definitely a bug in GUI Scripting/AppleScript/OS.
Does your iMac have an alternate keyboard set in the Keyboard prefs
panel, perhaps one that has the letter "i" where the "a" is on a US
keyboard?
