I believe that you would need to consult the documentation for the
software/hardware to find out how it is interfacing with your computer.
Does the software respond to Apple Events? Does it have an
AppleScript Dictionary? Try dragging the software onto the Script
Editor program (located in /Applications/AppleScript/), if it has an
AppleScript Dictionary then the dictionary will open in Script Editor.
Do you have the source to the mini-application you used to use? That
application may still work under Classic, if so then you can continue
using it through Classic.
You really will have to provide us with more information, the details
you have provided are much too vague to be of much help.

Hi all
I used to use a mini-application specially written to send a cash
drawer trigger (usually control-g) to the serial port on my Mac using
OS9 - now with OSX and USB and a USB receipt printer, I need to do the
same.
For security reasons, I do not want to use the trigger built in to the
software driver and also occasionally the drawer needs to be opened
without anything being printed.
Any ideas please or can someone point me in the right direction?
