Try copying cell A1 after you've done all your other Excel mojo. It's been a while since I've done the Excel scripting thing BUT I do recall scratching (then banging) my head until I figured out that Excel won't squawk about the clipboard if it doesn't contain much.

I'm lazy and it works.
