a 9.2.2 / Appletalk/ file sharing question

  • Subject: a 9.2.2 / Appletalk/ file sharing question

Well, I bet that subject line meant a lot of people turned off.

But anyway. My wife has a venerable Wallstreet running 9.2.2. From time to
time we back up her work onto a folder on my (OSX) machine, by turning on
Appletalk, turning on file sharing, then me running Synk (it's a fine app)
to backup her work to my machine.

I'd like it to be simpler than her having to do Cmd-I, select file sharing,
turn sharing on etc etc.

Scripting the turning on of file sharing is a doddle.

Turning on Appletalk, however, is a complete pain. (It's normally off
because if it's on the machine takes an age to wake from sleep, searching
for mythical servers to connect to.)
The dictionary is a mystery to me; I can't work out what it's
trying to suggest I do.

So: how does one script the turning on of Appletalk, for a 9.2.2 machine?

best
Charles
