At 03:13a +0200 04/01/2004, Wim Melis didst inscribe upon an electronic papyrus:

Maybe someone could help with a small annoyance I haven't able to figure
out?

There are six partitions/disks on my desktop. The Finder has always had a
nasty habit of not putting them in the order that I'd like to see them
appear. So under OS9, I had a little applet in the startup items that
told the Finder to set the correct desktop position for each partition
and disk.

I'm now on 10.2.8, that annoying Finder habit is still there, but I
haven't been able to replicate the old script. Any suggestions on how to
set desktop item positions under OSX?

It's currently impossible. I cannot port my Drive Icon Reposition script either.

At least Mr Jobs stopped getting on developers' case for not porting their stuff to OS X; he must've gotten a lot of "Show me the APIs!" responses. ;)

C'mon, Apple: finish the freakin' Finder instead of playing with iApps.
How can OS X be considered ready for prime time when the Finder is still only half baked?
