Adobe ImageReady

Does anyone know if Adobe ImageReady uses Java code like Acrobat 6.0 does. Here is the problem. We (The Newspaper) print a monthly coupon book each month and I also put it on our website. I open the pdfs of each coupon (we have pdfs for a back and a front) in Image ready with a 400 pixel width. Then I make a new document that is 400 x 360 pixels and then Copy both coupon pdfs onto the new document putting the front on top and the back on bottom and then save optimized into our internet advertising server. I have tried recording the actions but it doesn't record making a new document I noticed that Photoshop does record making a new document. I have tried also doing apple script but it doesn't work hence I believe that using Java scripting in Applescript may work. Any help would be appreciated
