PhotoShop- Set Selection Size

Would someone please show me an example of how to set a specific selection size in PhotoShop?

The PS dictionary says:
select: Change the selection
select reference -- the object or objects to be operated upon
region a list of anything -- list of corners of the selection (in pixels)
[combination type replaced/extended/diminished/intersected] -- how to combine the new selection with the existing selection (default: replacement)
[feather amount real] -- feather amount (default: 0)
[antialiasing boolean] -- whether to use antialiasing (default: true)

All I want to do is, with the front document window, set the exact selection size to, say, 1024x768.

What's the syntax to do that?

TIA.
