Open files, do Photoshop action

Still new to AS (and confused by syntax).
I would like to have Photoshop open each file in a folder one by one and do
a "Photoshop action" on the file (supressing all dialogs).
I've got a directory containing thousands of files that all need the same
action applied.
I've Googled and can't find much.
Any help is appreciated.
