I also used a simple script to view the info.plist for every app at the top level of the applications folder.

LOL... I don't even *have* any apps at the top level of my applications folder. (I've moved 'em all into categorized subfolders. Created "UTILITIES-GUI" for DragThing, Pashua, and Snard; and stuck QuicKeys in PLAYERS. Oh that's wrong, isn't it... QK is an editor too... guess I'll recategorize it, since I just looked for it in the GUI category...)

tell application "Finder" to set nameList to name of every application file in (path to applications folder)

Umm... what was that for, anyway? Just for testing?
