How could you do under MaOS X ?
The method that works for me is using scripts to shut down/restart,
etc, instead of using the standard hot keys or menu items. I've got
four: one to shut down, one to restart, one to log out, and one to boot
into OS 9, all of which I've been using since the early days of OS X.
The scripts can do anything that a script in the pre-OS X shutdown
items folder would do, and the only downside is that they don't run
when, eg, an installer insists on restarting the machine.
