I just replaced a 800Mhz G4 TiBook with a new 1.5Ghz AlBook.
I was very happy with the jump in performance.
I have a script that extracts Excel data, scrubs and processes the text in variables and then builds Illustrator charts. On the old system, it clocked at 29:36 minutes--on the new 1.5Ghz machine the time was cut to 13:48--That's a little more than twice as fast as the old 800Mhz PowerBook!
Does anybody have an idea of how much more improvement a G5 desktop might bring? I'm trying to decide between an entry level single processor G5 and one of the dual processor models.
