I'd like to thank everyone for being so helpful with my first Applescript.
I am also not familiar with Watchdog so I'll be checking it out as well. I
have OSX server so I'm set. Since some of you were interested I was wanting
to watch several processes on different machines so I was looking for a
generic script to pop into the start-up items and run in the background.
Specifically I was looking at watching WebStarV, FileMaker Pro Server, 4D
Web Server(s), an Apache install and WebEvent calendar :-)
You guys rock! This is part of my general recovery plan for these servers.
If Power fails do this
If Application fails do this
If UPS fails do this
If OS crashes do this
etc...
These little gems have now been configured to run continuously, every 5
minutes from startup and in conjunction with my remote "server watcher"
which e-mails/textmessages me when things go awry I should be able to
provide more consistent uptimes, besides, they're macs, they just work :-)
Thanks a bunch and I hope to contribute to the list one day, although I'll
be lurking, I mean learning.
Joshua
