Shane Stanely, I hope your out there!
Yes, I'm down here...
I've been scripting QuarkXPress for years, (way before there was ANY
documentation) but my frustration level is at it's peek right now. I
have created several documents that I now need to print to postscript
(PDF could work, provided it RIPs properly). I have several flavors of
scripts that do various things to accomplish this. But QuarkXPress
"unexpectedly" quits, or it takes so bloody long that it time's out (I
don't want to set my timeout to something ridiculous and wait that long
to find out that it didn't work).
My biggest gripe right now is that even in it's simplest terms:
1. Open document
2. print document 1 to postscript file whatever
3. manually observe when this is done and do it again
The file is written, but Quark seems to go on vacation for 3 minutes
with the spinning beach ball before the document is controllable again!
What's going on after the file is written, but before you can tell QXP
another thing?!?
Thanks for anyone's input.
I don't want to sound heartless, but you have no idea how much this
sort of post cheers up those of us who have left QuarkXPress behind.
Maybe Hans or someone will step in with an answer for you, but
mercifully I'm not moving beyond QXP 4.11, and then only for
maintenance. I always wash my hands straight afterwards.
Check out InDesign -- it's a scripter's delight...
