Do you know of any other sources of info for iTunes other than
it's AppleScript dictionary and the Visual plug-in SDK ?
My problem isn't exactly (or entirely) scripting iTunes.
What I would like is better support for switching Music Libraries:
I would like to have some music on a firewire drive that I could
swap between my home and work computers, along with their own local
HD music libraries, etc.
I have had some luck with exporting and importing libraries as XML.
I've also had some disasters trying to do this -- it may have to do
with interaction with other preference settings. I've had to try to
rebuild my Library from scratch several times -- and with 30GM of
Tunes, that takes quite a while.
[ And even after adding new file types ( .m4a, .m4p ) to the
"Add to iTunes Library" script, and changing 'as text' to 'as unicode
text',
I *still* can't get it to import everything without error! ]
I've also noticed that data DVD's full of audio files ( .mp3, m4a, ...
)
burned from iTunes will load their contents into iTunes on insertion,
while those I've burned with Toast do not. The only difference I've
noticed
is that iTunes prepends numbers to the folder names.
Is there any other source of Apple documentation ?
Any iTunes mailing lists ? ( I haven't seen anything on Apple's web
site )
Has anyone reversed engineered any of iTunes tricks ?
