Orphaned disk error fixed in 10.3.6

  • Subject: Orphaned disk error fixed in 10.3.6

Recently I warned someone about the orphaned disk bug.

I had my first error with 10.3.6 , here is how it happened.

1) While an AFP volume is mounted, I turned off the Airport card
2) Finder freezes up and is unresponsive with not even a spinball
3) After a while a dialog pops up saying the "trying to remount network
server"
4) I try to turn on the Airport but the menu is dead
5) After a while the dialog times out and unmounts the server.
6) Suddenly all the buffered mouseclicks execute
7) Finder is back to normal

The good part about this story is, I can now remount the disk without
rebooting!

Good work, Apple. that was a nasty bug.
