Screen saver deactivation

  • Subject: Screen saver deactivation

I have a script which adds data to filemaker pro databases (fp6). With the growth of the script and increasing amounts of data to parse, I am having a problem keeping it running to completion, because of screen saver issues. Filemaker likes to be frontmost and as far as I can tell the screen saver on my laptop coming on is the reason my script reaches a point in execution then reports "filemaker pro got an error, apple event timed out." I have tried to use system events gui scripting to set screen saver to "never" but it doesn't seem to work. Whenever I run the script, the screen saver eventually comes on and the process times out.

Does anybody have a foolproof way to keep screen saver from activating until the script is finished? Is there some reason that setting screen saver to "never" doesn't work?

Thanks

John Fowler
