Meh...as soon as I see dots, it's all C to me. Life is too short to use C.
When you see stars (*, **, ***) you should think of C. All those
lovely pointers can make you see stars. :-)
Urrrr... yes. Pointers I don't mind conceptually, but the way C
actually expresses them really makes me quite queasy. I think it does
it deliberately to freak you out, like one of those Endurance
gameshows from Japan, where they put scorpions down contestants'
pants and wait to see who cracks last.
Dots aren't so bad though; I've found y'get used to them pretty
quickly (even if I do sometimes still get a bit homesick for a good
old 'of' now and again). There's quite a lot of very civil high-level
languages that use them these days, and I'll personally take 'em over
nested brackets a-la Smalltalk/ObjC any day.
