Did you try this:
do shell script "echo hello >> ~/'Temporary Items'/filename.txt"
It works for me...

Yes. It is a default folder for every user on our LAN. We use it to
prevent
large files from being written to the root volume whenever possible
(/Users/
is located on other drives/volumes).
Why are you not using the 'real' Temp folder of MacOS X which is
located there:
/tmp/
In my workaround, I posted that I *am* currently using
/var/tmp/file.tmp; my
question was whether or not this is a problem when a user is not an
admin,
on earlier versions of the OS, etc.
Maybe I missed a message from this thread...
