thanks for all of the answers. to be honest I wasn't really interested in shell scripts although I will investigate them and I apreciate the answers although I admit I haven't used awk for about 8 years. my real question was is there an applescript native or scriptable application way to find what computers are on the network and also is there an applescript native or scriptable application way to use Rendezvous. from the answers from this august body the answer is what i thought. No.
