It's called Panther. Strangely, changes to 'set volume' and 'get volume settings' are not documented in the Release Notes for AppleScript 1.9.2 or 1.9.3 at http://www.apple.com/applescript/releasenotes/ . But here's what they look like in Standard Additions 1.9.3 (OS 10.3.2 and later)...

I'm running a standard install of 10.3.3, including Standard Additions 1.9.3 and it doesn't include the extra commands. All I have is:


set volume: Set the sound output volume
set volume number -- the volume level, from 0 (silent) to 7 (full volume)
