Yes, the Library (and its Assets) are scriptable, and library assets retain memory of original positioning in the source document.

I've had better luck doing it with CS, but it's not perfect and sometimes
the docs become unstable. I usually either save as an .inx file and
reopen that, or copy and paste everything into a new document, just to
make sure.


Is there in InDesign an equivalent to Quark's thumbnail view where you would
be able to click-drag everything on a single page to another
similarly-dimensioned document and have all the elements take on the same
x,y positions they had in the source file? Is such a thing scriptable?
