Yes, the Library (and its Assets) are scriptable, and library assets
retain memory of original positioning in the source document.

I can understand the logic -- it's just that CS is a much better
product, IMO.
Would CS choke on the converted Quark 4 file in the same way?
I've had better luck doing it with CS, but it's not perfect and
sometimes
the docs become unstable. I usually either save as an .inx file and
reopen that, or copy and paste everything into a new document, just to
make sure.
Is there in InDesign an equivalent to Quark's thumbnail view where you
would
be able to click-drag everything on a single page to another
similarly-dimensioned document and have all the elements take on the
same
x,y positions they had in the source file? Is such a thing scriptable?
