My apologies, Emmanuel. I was referring to "more professional-looking
than HTML", not Smile... I don't know anything about Smile, so I'm not
in any position to say anything about its quality... didn't mean to
imply otherwise.
I mostly dabble in Adobe applications all day, so that was my first
thought as to a nice-looking solution. :)

I suppose that you did not mean the opposite but in case it's unclear:
Smile makes professional-looking graphs which are suitable for print
(and for publishing, actually), and with much less effort than the
solution you are suggesting.
See the result returned by default:
QuickCurve({230, 250, 270}, {0.10, 0.15, 0.30}, 0)
Then of course all settings are possible - thanks to AppleScript.
