I'm betting that AppleScript is sending out unicode and VectorScript doesn't understand it.

The last Vectorscript I wrote was in MiniPascal and it the software was version 8 or so but one could execute a text file in Pascal from the Resources menu.

You might try using AppleScript to write an 8 bit normal ASCII text file to a temporary file and see if you can execute that from Vectorworks' Resources palette. At least you would be able to examine the AppleScript output with a text editor.
