I am not getting the results you are.

When I run the second script, I get an alert saying "Foo got an error: Connection is invalid." on the first line, with the function call highlighted, and no window is opened.

If I insert "Makefinderwindow ()" as the first line of foo and run the second script, a Finder window opens, and I get the same error as without that line. Curiously, the new window is the Computer window (showing mounted volumes) although when I create a new Finder window manually, the startup disk's window is opened, which is what I have preferences set to do.
