Now _this_ one came through OK, because it came directly to me. The CC via
the list server hasn't yet arrived: I expect that one to have the smime
attachment. Also a separate private-only email Charles sent to me came
through OK with digital sig, and Entourage verified it as OK in all five
checks:
Message has not been tampered with
You (I) do trust the digital ID
The digital ID has not expired
The digital ID's e-mail address does match sender's.
Revocation information for this certificate could not be determined.
(The fourth one is a biggie.)
Anyway, the error does seem to be the list server's. It's somehow mangling
digital IDs (from Mail, anyway) such that Entourage 2004 sees them as smime
attachments, whereas messages with digitals sigs sent directly from Mail to
me appear properly with digital sigs.
I'm going to send this one back with a digital sig from Entourage 2004 and
see whether that gets mangled too.
