Not a conscious one. I don't know if Emailer itself makes any decisions
based on the long headers. (I'm not an expert in these matters.)
AppleScript characters invariably come through OK during off-list
discussions with various people. It's only here that they don't and
with MACSCRPT before I changed the kind of digest I receive.
To be fair, the same also happens sometimes with other, non-AppleScript
mailing lists. Typically, apostrophes are rendered either as commas or as
strings of junk.
What I'm seeing at the moment at either end of "Wishing thinking" above
are the yen and trademark signs. They originally came through as an
apology for a smart apostrophe and the feminine Italian ordinal suffix
(ASCII characters 171 and 187 in Script Editor).
I already use a script to tidy up the individual message headers in
incoming digests. It shouldn't be difficult to extend it to correct the
AppleScript characters as well.
