Hello,
I will be bidding on a FileMaker/AppleScript/InDesign workflow solution that
will update an existing solution from its QuarkXPress target. I am an
expert as a user of QuarkXPress and a novice at scripting it; I am no expert
in InDesign but am farther along than a beginner (and am very good in the
other Adobe apps that share come codebase and interface look with InDesign -
Illustrator and Photoshop); I haven't done a single AppleScript at this
point that controlled InDesign.
My question to those that have this experience (particularly when FileMaker
is involved): what pitfalls, gotchas, traps, strange idiosynchrasies, etc.
should I be prepared for regarding InDesign and AppleScript? What reference
tools (besides the archives of this group and the adobe.scripting.indesign
group) should I seek out to help me tackle the learning curve I'll be
facing? Are there any good books out at this point on scripting InDesign?
I don't know, but I think, that the solution will be targeting the CS
version and using FM7, but if the solution needs to target ID version 2.0,
what are the major scripting differences between the two?
Any advance warning and suggestions are greatly appreciated! I have been
looking forward to a project that would force me to tackle scripting
InDesign - I am SO sick of dealing with Quark.
Thanks!
Bill Planey
