Jaguar is missing the sort command for finder.

When using Jaguar, can I assume that if I list all items in a folder that they will always come back in alphabetical (name) order?

Strictly speaking, no. Practically speaking, maybe -- it depends on the disk format. HFS+ (which is all many people use) reports items in alphabetical order. (For some probably US-centric definition of "alphabetical".) This is not guaranteed between OS releases, but may do in a pinch if you're feeling lazy.
