I've just sat down in front of another Mac which has only 3 mysterious
folder action refs.

A quick test seems to prove that these are ghosts of folders that have been
trashed without first removing the folder action.

This must be a bug - why should System Events be able to retrieve
information about folders that were trashed long ago?

It serves no purpose - apart from creating a dependable method of killing a
script and script editor.
