Morning, Ken:

'Code Complete' by Steve McConnell is the Chicago Manual of Style, the Strunk and White, of computer programming (as far as I've seen).  There is nothing in it that will address the peculiarities of AppleScript's English-likeness, but there should still be plenty of sound advice that will help you write readable, maintainable code.  If you haven't read it, I'd start there.

I do a lot of code maintenance on a business system that grew organically under several different programmers over a decade....
I commend you for thinking of your successors.....
