I've heard of print jobs that made line printers render "Jingle Bells" (as
best they might). Ever do one of those? (not quite ASCII art, but sim..)
And, of course, deep in the bowels of the Tektronix libraries was a bit of
code that calculated how many SYN or NUL characters to send (to waste
time) after a storage tube erasure to give the tube time to settle back
down. I suspect similar time manipulations existed in printer and terminal
driver code for the mechanical reasons mentioned previously, but I *know*
that stuff was part of the 4010 library.
