I would like to extract a large number of text pages produced by an OS 9
 program

Which? (That might help, if one of us also use(s/d) it.)

The Oxford English Dictionary client for the Mac. An ancient program - no OS X version around...

Yow! Are you sure of what you're doing? On the African savannah lions tear you to pieces, birds pick at the bones and worms do the rest. In the cities we have lawyers. The OED is carefully copyrighted. They sell the work on CD. No Mac version, to be sure <http://www.oup.co.uk/ep/prodsupp/ref/oed2v3/#Q12> but they have a web site which is a subscription service <http://www.oed.com/subscribe/>. They're not giving that work away for nothing.

Yes, yes. I know. I have an official copy of the CD-ROM - there used to be a Mac version. I'm not trying to extract the whole text, put it on the web and make some money with it. ;-) All I'm trying to do is to extract the information on spelling variants which is not available in a format required by my research - which is on the automatic normalisation of spelling variants in diachronic text corpora, if that makes sense... ;-) My university is a subscriber of the OED online service and I frequently access it. It just doesn't give me the kind of data I need...
I know that this is a potentially grey area, but if I'm not passing on the data to anybody else (which I'm not going to), I should be pretty safe from lions and other beasts.
